Man Utd to unveil two new signings today after striking £71m transfer agreement

Manchester United will unveil two new signings today (Saturday) as Bryan Mbeumo moves closer to becoming the club’s third arrival of the summer transfer window. The Red Devils’ pre-season schedule begins against Leeds United in Stockholm to accelerate Ruben Amorim’s preparations for a crucial 2025/26 campaign.

United will face their bitter rivals at the Strawberry Arena in the Swedish capital, where supporters will get a first glimpse of Amorim’s latest recruits. Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon are part of the 29-player travelling squad and should record their first minutes since joining earlier this summer.

United started their summer spending by signing Cunha from Wolves in a £62.5million deal, which they are paying in three instalments.

Leon followed the Brazilian through the arrivals suite, having agreed to join back in January. The 18-year-old left-back has landed in Manchester in a transfer worth up to £7m.

With Harry Amass set to leave on loan and Luke Shaw primed for more minutes as a left centre-back this term, Leon appears to be Amorim’s second choice behind Patrick Dorgu.

Mbeumo is completing his medical on Saturday ahead of completing his £71m move to United from Brentford.

The M16 giants’ six-week-long pursuit came to a positive conclusion on Friday when Brentford accepted a guaranteed £65m, paid in four instalments, plus £6m in add-ons.

While Mbeumo will not be with his new team-mates in Stockholm, he will be part of the squad that flies to the pre-season tour of the United States on Tuesday.

Saturday’s clash with Leeds starts a Premier League-focused pre-season schedule, much like United’s recruitment strategy.

Across the Atlantic, Amorim’s side will face West Ham United in New Jersey, Bournemouth in Chicago and Everton in Atlanta.

Fiorentina visit Old Trafford a week before the Premier League opener against Arsenal to round off the warm-up friendlies.

By that point, Amorim may hope to have more than three new arrivals in his squad in what must be a transformative summer.

He reportedly also wants a new striker, midfielder and wing-back, while a goalkeeper could also be on the agenda.

Any further deals would have to be funded by the departures of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia.
