Manchester United vs Chelsea: Robert Sanchez shown earliest red card for London club

Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was shown a red card just five minutes into the Premier League clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford, the earliest dismissal for a Chelsea player ever.

The Spanish custodian’s dismissal was also the third fastest for a goalkeeper in the league’s history.

Sanchez was caught out by a searing run from Bryan Mbeumo, who was played in past the defence following a header on from Benjamin Sesko.

With the keeper closing in towards him, the Cameroonian managed to flick the ball past the Spaniard, copping a blow to his knee and earning a foul in the process.

The referee was quick to brandish a red card following the foul, reducing Chelsea to ten men at Old Trafford. Manager Enzo Maresca was forced to shuffle the pack following the marching orders with keeper Filip Jorgensen and defender Tosin Adaribioyo coming on.

Attacking wide players, Willian Estevao and Pedro Neto were the ones replaced. Maresca made a further change in the half, removing Cole Palmer for a more defensive midfielder in Andey Santos.
