Marcus Rashford already planning for Villa exit as Man Utd ace adopts new stance

Marcus Rashford is reluctant to stay at Aston Villa on a permanent basis when his loan deal comes to an end, according to reports.

The forward will see out the rest of the campaign at Villa Park after falling out of favour at Manchester United. Just before the start of the January window, he declared his intention to seek a ‘fresh challenge’ away from Old Trafford and was granted his wish.

Rashford was said to have spoken with Unai Emery on the phone before deciding to join Villa, who have the option to buy him for around £40million in the summer.

However, it has been claimed that he is reluctant to commit to a permanent switch. According to TEAMtalk, the 27-year-old could use his loan move as a ‘stepping stone’ before going elsewhere next season.

The report states that Rashford is ‘very interested’ in playing abroad and would rather join a foreign club than extend his stay at Villa Park. There have been ‘whispers’ that a move is already in the works with interest coming from several top sides.

Barcelona were linked with Rashford before Villa came calling, but their financial issues reportedly made things difficult. It remains to be seen if the Catalan giants will be in the frame to sign him when the bidding re-opens in the summer.

There is little chance of a return to United, with the report adding that Rashford is unlikely to play for the Red Devils again. His relationship with Amorim is said to be ‘completely broken’ due to the way the Portuguese manager has treated him.

Only time will tell where Rashford ends up next season, with plenty of time for him to find a new home before his Villa spell comes to an end.

In his first interview since leaving United, he told Villa’s media channels: “It’s an ambitious time for this club and a great opportunity for me to join the team and help them keep pushing forward. I’m excited, can’t wait for the first training session.

“[Emery is] a top manager and what he’s done at the club since he’s come to Villa is unbelievable. It’s the constant ambition that’s attractive and it’s why you want to join such a club.

“It’s a club that’s in a good position in the league, and they’re pushing to get higher. Still in the Champions League, a good, ambitious manager and great talent in the squad.

“I’ve had to choose somewhere where I feel my style of football is suited to, and can help them and help me rediscover and improve as a player. Obviously it’s only short-term, so I want to make the most of my time here.”
