Marcus Rashford’s thoughts on return to Man Utd training as pre-season begins

Marcus Rashford is set to rejoin Manchester United as pre-season training kicks off on Monday. The England forward spent the latter half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, following a disagreement with United manager Ruben Amorim. Now, the decision lies with Amorim whether to reintegrate Rashford into his squad.

If not, the club’s hierarchy will be quick to sell him to the highest bidder or arrange another loan spell. However, sources close to Rashford maintain that the player harbours no ill feelings towards returning to the club and promises to give ‘100 per cent’ in training. Rashford has had no contact with Amorim since his departure from Old Trafford in January.

Yet, the 27-year-old anticipates full involvement in the club’s pre-season activities for as long as he remains a United player, despite uncertainty surrounding his future.

United’s pre-season plans include two weeks of fitness drills, followed by their first match against Leeds in Stockholm on July 19. The squad will then jet off to the United States for their summer tour.

Rashford has been keeping fit during the off-season with personal trainers, even conducting individual workouts during a three-week break in Marbella. United have valued Rashford at £40m and are eager to find him a new club.

However, his hefty £300,000-a-week salary has become a hurdle in negotiations with interested clubs, including Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
