Fiorentina striker Moise Kean is ready to return to the pitch after a terrifying head injury left him incapacitated. The 25-year-old, capped by Italy, had a harrowing on-pitch collapse during a Serie A clash against Hellas Verona on February 23, which led to him urgently being taken to hospital after he was taken off the pitch on a stretcher.
The ordeal followed an accidental melee with player Pawel Dawidowicz that saw Kean take a knee to the face. Despite initially returning to play post-treatment, he shockingly blacked out shortly after and was worryingly unresponsive for a moment. A statement from Fiorentina on Monday morning said: “ACF Fiorentina announces that this morning the footballer Moise Kean underwent the scheduled clinical and instrumental tests following the head injury that occurred during the Hellas Verona-Fiorentina championship match.
“Given the positive outcome of the examinations carried out, the player can resume regular competitive activity.” Kean, who exited the hospital just a day after the incident having allayed concerns of concussion, previously endured a stint at Everton.
There, during the 2019/20 Premier League season, the ex-Paris St Germain and Juventus striker marked two goals across his 32 appearances. He joined Fiorentina last year and has scored 20 goals in 31 games across all competitions.
