Paul Pogba told ‘say no to Man Utd’ as free agent seeks new club

Emmanuel Petit has urged Paul Pogba to dismiss any thoughts of a return to Manchester United. Pogba finds himself without a club following the conclusion of his 18-month suspension for doping violations. The France World Cup winner has hired the services of new representative Arturo Canales to secure his next venture.

Despite rumours circulating about a potential third stint at United, fellow Frenchman and Arsenal icon Petit believes that the situation at Old Trafford is unsuitable for Pogba’s comeback to Manchester. Petit, who clinched the World Cup himself in 1998, expressed his views to Pokerfirma.com: “I would say no to United.

“He needs a good environment, and he’s been at the club twice already, he’s been under criticism, with the press, former players, also the fans. I think Manchester United at the moment is not the best destination.”

Even though Pogba has been away from the pitch for an extended period, Petit feels that the 32-year-old still represents a worthwhile risk, driven by a desire for retribution against the sport that shunned him.

Petit elaborated: “The last time he played a game was 16 months ago. He’s training by himself, doesn’t have the chance to play, or even to train with team-mates. I’m still pretty sure that he’s got a great heart, great abilities.

“But how long will it take to come back to a good level, with revenge as a factor in terms of motivation?”

“I don’t know. I think he’s got this desire to come back into the game and to show that he’s not finished. If I was the manager of a top club, I would gamble with him.”
