The Philippines blanked Turkmenistan, 2-0, in the AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup Qualifying Tournament in Uzbekistan on Wednesday.
The Philippines and Turkmenistan were both scoreless by halftime before Katrina Guillou made the first goal for the women’s national futsal team less than three minutes into the second half. It took around seven more minutes before Dionesa Tolentin made the second goal which eventually sealed the victory.
This is the Philippines’ second win in the tournament after opening its campaign with a 4-1 win against Kuwait, followed by a 3-3 draw against Uzbekistan.
With the victory, the Philippines currently tops Group C with two wins and one draw.
The national futsal team will face Australia on Sunday to cap its group stage campaign.
Only the top two teams of each group and the best-ranked third placer among the four groups will advance to the AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup.
