NEW CLARK CITY — The Philippines drew Tajikistan, 2-2, with both goals coming from Bjorn Kristensen in Carles Cuadrat’s head coaching debut for the men’s national football team.
In front of a crowd of 10,854 Kristensen made the goals for the Philippines at the 28th minute through a header before the first half ended in Tajikistan’s favor, 2-1.
The Fil-Norwegian player then equalized the match at the 79th minute in the highly physical match which saw a total of 15 yellow cards, eight which came from the Philippines.
The Philippines now has one win and one draw in the qualifiers, with the country taking the lead in the standings because of a higher goal difference than Tajikistan.
Only the top team of each of the six groups will advance to the AFC Asian Cup.
