Premier League club Fulham have apparently threatened to fine Alex Iwobi if he doesn’t stop posting behind-the-scenes content on Snapchat. The attacker has previously given his followers a glimpse of his day-to-day life as a professional footballer.
Iwobi progressed through the Arsenal academy before making his Premier League debut for the Gunners in October 2015 at the age of 19. He made 149 appearances for Arsenal before moving to Everton in 2019. And following a four-year spell with the Toffees, he returned to London to sign for Fulham in September 2023. The Nigeria international has gone on to bag 15 goals and eight assists in 77 appearances for the Cottagers.
Iwobi returned to Snapchat on Thursday to update his followers on the social media instructions he has been given by Fulham.
And the 29-year-old explained: “For those that are wondering why I haven’t been snapping BTS (behind the scenes) in the changing room, one person in the media team has been saying I haven’t been catching the right stuff.
“So, there’s no more BTS. They also said I might get fined if I continue to do so, they’re trying to ban Snap in our changing room.
“That’s why I ain’t been snapping BTS. It’s a shame, I know you guys enjoy seeing what my team-mates are like behind the scenes. But I have to respect the rules.”

Iwobi was involved in a jovial social media battle with Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina in February after the Craven Cottage club had defeated the East Midlands giants 2-1.
Aina has also been particularly active on Snapchat in the past and told his followers that Liverpool had been lucky to leave the City Ground with a 1-1 draw in February.
And discussing their Snapchat tussle, Iwobi told The Athletic: “It became a Snapchat derby. Especially because me and Ola grew up together. We went to the same school and grew up on the same road.
“I’m just happy we beat Forest home and away. Ola messaged me saying, ‘Alex, don’t even entertain or mention my name.’ I was like, ‘Bro, don’t worry, I’ll spare you, but I’ll let you know we won.'”
Fulham are set to take on Nottingham Forest in a pre-season friendly in Portugal on Saturday, before the Cottagers play against Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad in the same country next Wednesday.
Marco Silva’s side then host Eintracht Frankfurt at Craven Cottage in their final friendly on Saturday, August 9, before beginning their Premier League campaign with a trip to Brighton seven days later.
Fulham enjoyed a strong campaign under Silva last time around as they lost just four matches before Christmas. They ultimately finished 11th in the table after winning 15 of their 38 matches.
