Rasmus Hojlund berates Man Utd team-mate as worries continue

Rasmus Hojlund was spotted berating a fellow Manchester United player in the early stages of their victory at Fulham on Sunday night.

Lisandro Martinez scored the decisive goal with United’s only attempt on target, ensuring they came away with all three points. It saw the Red Devils return to winning ways in the Premier League following their defeat to Brighton last time out.

There was plenty of tension just minutes into the match, with Hojlund being left frustrated by Andre Onana’s errant kicking in the opening exchanges.

United initially took a direct approach, with Onana firing long balls into the Danish striker as he looked to muscle his way past Fulham’s defenders. One kick fell painfully short, prompting a furious response from his team-mate.

Hojlund was clearly frustrated that United’s goalkeeper had failed to pick him out and was seen berating him for attempting the pass.

The forward has a history of lambasting his own team-mates, having done so in United’s recent victory over Southampton. He went ballistic at Alejandro Garnacho for missing an easy chance and took his anger out by kicking the frame of the goal.

Hojlund was also left furious with Amad during his side’s defeat to Wolves last month, jumping up and down while remonstrating with his arms following a missed opportunity to score.

He was replaced by Joshua Zirkzee after failing to break the deadlock against Fulham and was criticised for his muted performance on Match of the Day.

“When you have a striker like Hojlund, who in this moment doesn’t score goals, at least he’s got to contribute in holding up the ball and laying it off,” said former Aston Villa midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger.

“He must know by now that in the Premier League when you give the ball away, it ends up in a chance for the opposition. It’s really frustrating to see him up there showing for the ball but never really being able to get hold of it.”

Fellow pundit Shay Given added: “You’re away from home in the Premier League and he’s your main striker. You have to be stronger to get your team up the pitch and actually get involved in the play.

“He has to be more dominant and even then, he just runs away. You want so much more from your centre-forward. Again, he picks it up in a good area here. What does he do with it?

“If he has any awareness about him, he can flick it around the corner, but he doesn’t even know where the Fulham player is. He takes a bad, heavy touch and loses the ball. He has to get better awareness.”
