Mateo Retegui became Atalanta’s all-time top scorer in a single Serie A campaign and the second Atalanta player to win the “Capocannoniere” award as the season came to a close on Sunday.
He scored 25 goals in 26 appearances as his side cemented third place in the standings, also securing a spot in the UEFA Champions League next season.
His tally was also a record for the most goals ever scored for the club in a single Serie A campaign, having surpassed Filippo Inzaghi’s long-standing club record of 24 goals, set back in the 1996/97 season.
