Ruben Amorim fires Alejandro Garnacho clear warning as ‘Man Utd theory’ emerges

There is a belief that Alejandro Garnacho is biding his time over a decision on his future in the hope that Manchester United lower their asking price later in the summer transfer window, according to reports. However, Ruben Amorim has already warned the players he wants and needs to sell that interested clubs face disappointment if they attempt to low-ball United near the deadline.

Garnacho is one of four first-team players still exiled after Marcus Rashford found his escape route in the form of a season-long loan switch to Barcelona. Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia are also training at Carrington while Amorim and his squad take part in the pre-season tour of the United States.

According to The Athletic, there is a theory that Amorim’s outcasts are holding off deciding on their next move so that United panic and lower their valuations later in the summer.

Garnacho, in particular, is believed to be going down this route amid interest from Chelsea that matches his desire to remain in the Premier League.

However, the Argentina international is one of several players in United’s ranks that need regular minutes ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

And Amorim has issued a caution to those playing the waiting game, insisting that chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox have clear price tags in mind.

“Some players have to find a new place to have more space in the team, and other players clearly show they want a new challenge and want new teams,” the Portuguese head coach explained.

“We are just allowing these players to have time to think and to decide. If we reach a point where they have to join the team, they will join the team because they are our players.

“I know for a fact that Jason [Wilcox], Omar [Berrada], and the club have a number for these players.

“If they [interested clubs] don’t reach that, they will be Manchester United players, no doubt about that.

“I understand the clubs are waiting for the last minute, but they can have a surprise.”

United are actively attempting to improve their operations in the transfer market by signing Premier League-proven players this summer.

But the club also want to start generating more funds through sales, something they have failed to do across the last decade.

It would make for a fascinating climax, should the situation reach the latter stages of the window with the quartet still wandering the halls of Carrington.
