Manchester United must give Ruben Amorim time despite their Europa League final defeat, claims the club’s former winger Lee Sharpe.
“Ruben Amorim has been brought in to be given time and change the philosophy at the club,” he told Coin Poker.
“I think he realised how poor a situation it is at the club when he walked in. He needs to change a lot, especially after what we’ve seen this season.
“If nothing changes and the team get off to a bad start in the league next season, he’ll be under pressure by Christmas easily.
“I still think the board will give Amorim time, even after the defeat in the Europa League final – I think he’ll definitely get next season to turn things around.
“He needs at least two transfer windows and a chance to bring in a handful of players. Those players will need time to settle into the club, too; it doesn’t happen overnight.
“Any Manchester United manager in the bottom half of the table is going to come under pressure, but he’s been brought in to turn things around.”
