The ASEAN All-Stars, including the Philippines’ Sandro Reyes and Amani Aguinaldo, defeated Manchester United, 1-0, in the Maybank Malaysia Challenge Cup on Wednesday at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Reyes and Aguinaldo started for the squad which included other Southeast Asian players such as Patiwat Khammal of Thailand, Declan Meng and Ezekiel Aguero of Malaysia, and Maung Maung Lwin of Myanmar who scored the lone goal at the 71st minute.
Reyes took to social media his feelings after the match.
“A boy from Manila winning against Manchester United in front of 70,000 fans. But we keep dreaming for more,” Reyes wrote on the caption of his post.
“I’m happy and grateful to be selected and to be given such a great opportunity,” Aguinaldo previously said.
The two will fly soon to Manila for the upcoming window of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifier where the Philippines will take on Tajikistan on June 10.
Manchester United, 20-time English Champions and three-time European Champions, will then head to Hong Kong for the next stop of their tour in Asia.
