Sir Jim Ratcliffe cornered by Man Utd supporters in ugly incident

Sir Jim Ratcliffe was cornerned by Manchester United fans angry over a rise in member tickets prices. The 71-year-old was cornered by supporters as he left Fulham’s Craven Cottage after the Red Devils’ 1-0 Premier League triumph.

United’s supporters’ trust feared a significant price rise ahead of next season after United increaed the cost of a member ticket to £66 for the remainder of the campaign. Ratcliffe has come under significant scrutiny over the decision, which was taken following a review of the club’s accounts.

Other controversial decisions have included cost-cutting measures such as 250 staff redundancies and slashing funding to the club’s charity and former player ambassadors.

In what seems to be an incident that took place as Ratcliffe was driven away from Craven Cottage, he was confronted by fans angry over the decision to raise ticket prices. “Sixty-six quid? Sixty-six f****** quid? You’re taking the p***!” the individuals tell the INEOS CEO.

In the video shared across social media, Ratcliffe winds down his window and tells them: “Just get your photograph guys…”

He initially smiles but quickly winds up the window when he realises the fans are continuing to shout at him.

The furious fans added: “What are you doing? Sort it out! You’re worse than the Glazers, mate! If Fulham sold [tickets] for 66 quid, we’d take triple their fans. Our prices should be a third of Fulham’s. Sort it out you c***. F*** you, Jim Ratcliffe! F*** you!”

Ratcliffe watched United seal a narrow win over Fulham in an uneventful game. Lisandro Martinez’s deflected strike from long range was the only goal of the match.

United have lost just one of their last five games. However, the victory in west London proved that Ruben Amorim‘s squad needs strengthening before the January transfer window closes. the Red Devils are yet to welcome any new additions to Old Trafford.

It is likely that United will need to sell players to free up funds for any serious business to take place. Alejandro Garnacho, one of the club’s better performers against Fulham, has been linked with a £55million departure to Chelsea.

Marcus Rashford is also widely expected to leave. Amorim claimed that he would rather place his goalkeeper coach on the bench over Rashford and suggested that the forward is not putting in enough effort in training. The 27-year-old is reportedly a target for Barcelona and a number of other European clubs.
