But should Mikel Arteta and co. look to solve the problem internally, Express Sport have detailed three ways Arsenal can fill the Jesus void.
Raheem Sterling handed opportunity to turn form around
The frustrating part for Arsenal is Jesus was just beginning to find form and plug the goal gap left behind by talisman Bukayo Saka – the Brazil international had netted six goals in his previous six appearances for the capital club prior to the weekend’s FA Cup clash.
Arteta turned to on-loan Chelsea ace Raheem Sterling in the United game and it’s likely, for the time being at least, he does the same going forward.
The pair offer similar traits in attack and while Sterling is a little more direct than his former Manchester City team-mate, the English international did impress as a substitute against United.
Trossard in on the right
Sterling isn’t the only senior forward in the Arsenal ranks, with Leonardo Trossard waiting in the wings.
Having made an immediate impact upon his arrival in January 2023, Trossard’s form has stuttered in recent months and the ex-Brighton man has found minutes in the starting XI hard to come by.
But without a goal in any of his last 11 appearances across all competitions, the Belgian will have to up his productivity if he’s to become a viable option.
Tactical reshuffle
As for a wildcard option, perhaps Arteta could look to repurpose Myles Lewis-Skelly as a make-shift wide-forward?
The teenager has caught the eye since breaking into the senior set-up and while it has predominantly been at left-back, Lewis-Skelly has shown plenty of class in the attacking third.
Arteta has the flexibility to do so, at least in his defensive area, given Riccardo Calafiori and the lesser-seen Kieran Tierney can fill in at left-back instead.
It wouldn’t be Arteta’s first-choice solution, but as a result of their deficiencies elsewhere, it could be a case of needs must.
