Transfer deadline day: Major signings in Bundesliga transfer window

The European summer transfer window came to a close at 7PM BST (11:30PM IST) on September 1.

The window has seen many Bundesliga sides looking to revamp their squads in advance of the nascent 2025-26 Bundesliga season. Defending champion Bayern Munich has looked to begin regenerating its squad, while the chasing pack has looked to strengthen.

With most major sides making major transfers, here are five of the top transfers in the Bundesliga ahead of the 2025-26 season:

Jarrel Quansah – Liverpool to Bayer Leverkusen

It has been a summer of change for Bayer Leverkusen, with a host of stars departing the club. There has been change at the heart of defence, where Jonathan Tah has moved to local rival Bayern Munich and Piero Hincapie has joined Arsenal. Arriving in their place is young English centre-back Jarell Quansah for around 35 million euros. Fresh from winning the Premier League with Liverpool, he will be looking for consistent minutes as Leverkusen looks to rebuild. Quansah has started well, scoring minutes into his Bundesliga debut, although Leverkusen has been plunged into a state of uncertainty after the early sacking of manager Erik ten Hag.

Jonathan Burkardt – Mainz to Eintracht Frankfurt

Jonathan Burkardt had a stunning season for Mainz in the 2024-25 season, scoring 18 goals as it finished sixth to qualify for the UEFA Conference League. With Hugo Ekitike departing Eintracht Frankfurt for Liverpool hot on the heels of Omar Marmoush departing to Manchester City in January, Eintracht has looked to Burkardt to fill the gap leading the line for the side this season, shelling out a fee close to 21 million euros for him.

Luis Diaz – Liverpool to Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich has looked to refresh its frontline this summer, with Thomas Muller, Kingsley Coman, and Mathys Tel among those to depart. The marquee name coming in is Colombian winger Luis Diaz, who joins from Liverpool for around 70 million euros. Diaz, who scored 13 goals in the Premier League last season, will be looking to link up with Harry Kane and Michael Olise, who powered Bayern’s title charge last season. The early signs are promising, with Diaz having scored twice in his first two Bundesliga matches.

Nicolas Jackson – Chelsea to Bayern Munich

Nicolas Jackson’s potential move to Bayern Munich was a saga that dominated the final days of the transfer window. However, the Senegalese striker managed to complete his move to Bavaria, joining on an initial loan deal with an obligation to make it permanent transfer at the end of the season, and will now be fighting for a place in Bayern’s new look frontline. Though he may be forced to compete with Harry Kane for a place as a centre-forward, there is still significant potential for the ex-Chelsea striker to succeed in the Bundesliga

Jobe Bellingham – Sunderland to Borussia Dortmund

One Bellingham will follow the other in wearing the iconic yellow and black of Borussia Dortmund this season. The latest young talent to make a move to Dortmund is Jobe Bellingham, younger brother of its former star Jude, for 30.50 million euros. Bellingham joins from Sunderland, and was instrumental in its promotion from the Championship to the Premier League. A midfielder by trade, the 19-year-old will be hoping to continue his development with his new side, although he has already faced a few teething issues.
