East Bengal and Mohun Bagan Super Giant renew their age-old rivalry when the sides meet on Sunday, both vying for a spot in the Durand Cup 2025 semifinals.
Both teams topped their respective groups, entering the knockouts without losing a game.
The last time the sides met in a Kolkata Derby was last month, on July 26, in a Calcutta Football League (CFL) fixture.
East Bengal came out on top with a thrilling 3-2 win over Mohun Bagan with David Lalhlansanga netting the winner in the 69th minute.
The Red and Gold Brigade held a healthy two-goal lead at the break after goals Jesin TK and Sayan Banerjee had given the Bino George-coached side the advantage.
However, Deggie Cardozo’s team mounted a second-half comeback through goals from Leewan Castanha and Kiyan Nassiri to restore parity. But Lalhlansanga had the final say in the match.
