Third-seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova is through to the semi-finals of the Monterrey Open, beating No.7 seed Yue Yuan in straight sets.
Alexandrova won the fiercely fought contest 7-5 7-6 (7-3) on Thursday night.
The Russian will now face Lulu Sun of New Zealand, a 6-4 6-3 winner over Erika Andreeva in the WTA 500 event at Sonoma Club.
The 29-year-old Alexandrova won the last of her four career WTA Tour titles last year at Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands.
In the other quarter-finals, second-seeded American Emma Navarro takes on ninth-seeded Magdalena Frech of Poland, while fifth-seeded Elina Svitolina of Ukraine is set to meet sixth-seeded Czech Linda Noskova.
