Andy Murray and Kim Sears’ relationship survived a brief separation
Despite retiring from tennis this summer, Andy Murray has continued to make waves in the sporting world. The 37-year-old, who retired after the Paris Olympics in August, shocked fans last month by announcing his return to the sport as a coach for ex-rival Novak Djokovic.
The pair, who have collectively won 145 singles titles, were once fierce competitors but will now join forces ahead of the Australian Open in January. While tennis enthusiasts eagerly anticipate this dynamic duo’s debut, Murray has been keeping busy with various new ventures and spending quality time with his wife Kim and their four children.
Here’s everything you need to know about Murray’s life after retirement, from his net worth and family endeavours, to a potential new career away from the courts…

Andy Murray’s new TV role
In addition to his coaching job, Murray is also set to appear in an upcoming TV advert in Australia. According to The Herald Sun, the former tennis star will portray an action hero being pursued through Melbourne’s streets, culminating in a dramatic leap through a Chinatown restaurant window.
Murray was spotted on set earlier this month, sporting a fake cut on his face and his signature Castore kit smeared with mud. The retired tennis ace shared his excitement, saying (via Wales Online): “I’m seeing a different Melbourne this time. I’ve not been around some of these parts before and it’s been good fun.
“It’s a big shoot. I’ve never done anything like this before because I never had the time. But it’s fun to do something like this.” Turning his competitive edge to the greens, the Scot is also sharpening his golf skills, aiming to reach scratch.
Murray has been sharpening his golf skills
Currently holding a seven handicap, he debuted at the esteemed BMW PGA Championship Pro-Am event in Wentworth this year and swung to victory at the premier BTJA Mike Dickson Golf Day held at Hanbury Manor Golf Club in Hertfordshire. Murray opened up about the transition from tennis to golf, acknowledging the distinct difference in pressure: “It’s a different sort of nerves, because you are comfortable in the sort of tennis environment.
“I’m not thinking I’m going to walk out on the tennis court and forget how to hit the ball. Whereas here, there’s people standing five metres away from where I’m driving, and I’m like, I’m useless at this game. You just want to try and keep the ball in play and don’t mess up too much.
“I’m obviously getting to practice a lot more than the average person/ I obviously played a bit when I was younger, and if I can get the right sort of lessons and practise the right things, then yeah, I’ve got a chance of doing that.”
Did Andy Murray and Kim Sears split?
Murray and Kim Sears, daughter of tennis coach Nigel Sears, tied the knot in 2015, almost a decade after meeting at a US Open party. Their romance has flourished into a family with four children: Sophia, eight, Edie, six, Teddy, four, and Lola, three.
The path wasn’t always smooth however; notably, the pair endured a brief split in 2009 during which Kim gained ‘custody’ of their beloved dog, Maggie. Fortunately, this separation was short-lived, spanning only six months before they reunited, prompting Murray to make a personal revelation.
He explained: “I work better in a relationship. At the end of the day, especially if I’ve lost a match, I don’t like talking about tennis, so it’s nice to have someone to talk to about other stuff.”
The couple are now happily married
Speaking to the New York Times, meanwhile, he expressed his thanks for Kim’s support. Murray explained: “She doesn’t like being in the newspapers, and people commenting on what she’s wearing and how she looks, and those sorts of things. That’s one of the things that I guess she’s also sacrificed, a little bit, for our relationship, and I appreciate that a lot.
“You’re in these huge cities meeting new people all the time and it would be easy to get your head turned. But Kim’s always been there for me. She really cares about me and helps with so many things. She always has. That’s why we have such a great relationship.”
What is Andy Murray’s net worth?
Given his remarkable achievements on the tennis court, it’s no shock that Murray boasts an impressive estimated net worth. With a trophy cabinet boasting 46 titles – including two Wimbledon victories, three Olympic golds and a US Open triumph – the Scottish sportsman has raked in over £50million in prize money alone throughout his career.

However, his earnings are significantly boosted by lucrative endorsement deals and sponsorships with big names such as Jaguar, Castore, Under Armour and Head. Over time, the tennis star has also teamed up with other major brands like Amazon Prime Video, Standard Life and American Express. In total, Murray’s staggering net worth is estimated to be around £85m, as per Celebrity Net Worth.
However, some sources suggest it could potentially be closer to £100m. The tennis legend has invested a large portion of his fortune in real estate, purchasing a £5m mansion in Surrey and a plush apartment in Miami, amongst others. Since 2013, he and Kim have been proud owners of the five-star Cromlix House Hotel in Dunblane, which served as their wedding venue two years later.
The opulent hotel, nestled within 34 acres of secluded grounds and woodland, boasts 10 bedrooms, five suites and a one-bedroom lodge. It also features its own private chapel, tennis court, pickleball court and a restaurant helmed by an acclaimed chef. Originally built as a Victorian mansion, the property underwent a complete transformation under the Murrays’ ownership. Room rates typically vary from £350 to £950 per night, as per KAYAK.
