ATP Rankings: Alcaraz returns to No. 2 spot after maiden Monte Carlo Masters title

Carlos Alcaraz returned to the number two spot in the latest ATP Rankings released on Monday after his maiden Monte Carlo Masters title.

Spain’s Alcaraz, a four-time Grand Slam winner, defeated Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 in Sunday’s final to win his sixth title at the ATP 1000 level.

Musetti, the 23-year-old Italian, achieved a new career high ranking of 11 courtesy his first-ever appearance in a Masters final.

Germany’s Alexander Zverev, who lost to Italian Matteo Berrettini in the second round, dropped from second to third spot.

Australia’s Alex de Minaur climbed to seventh spot after his run to the semifinals. Andrey Rublev gained one spot and moved to eighth while Daniil Medvedev re-entered Top 10.

Stefanos Tsitsipas, the defending champion, lost to Musetti in the quarterfinals. As a result, the Greek dropped from eighth to 16th.

Three-time Major winner Jannik Sinner continues to occupy the top spot despite being out of action since his Australian Open triumph due to a three-month doping ban.

Elsewhere in the Top 100, Frenchmen Arthur Fils (14th) and Quentin Halys (54th), Argentina’s Camilo Ugo Carabelli (60th), China’s Yunchaokete Bu (64th), Belgium’s Raphael Collignon (83rd), and Dutchman Jesper de Jong (94th) achieved new career high rankings.
