Beatriz Haddad Maia (23) followed Emma Navarro (9) out of Roland Garros on Tuesday but the elite were otherwise unscathed.

American Hailey Baptiste accounted for the Brazilian 4-6 6-3 6-1, and with Navarro losing on Monday to Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in the same segment of the draw the opportunity has opened up for an unseeded player to advance to the fourth round.

Also progressing were American second and third seeds Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula, past Australia’s Olivia Gadecki 6-2 6-2 and Romanian Anca Todoni 6-2 6-4, respectively.
