Carlos Alcaraz accused of ‘loving females’ after naming future wife

Carlos Alcaraz might already be a four-time Grand Slam champion at the age of 21 but that doesn’t mean his sole focus is on tennis. The Spaniard has been tipped to become one of the all-time greats of the sport, having already landed successive Wimbledon titles to go with his US Open and French Open wins.

In Australia this month, he was denied a career Slam in an epic quarter-final defeat to Novak Djokovic, but the world No.3 has ample time on his side to reach that goal.

Away from the court, Alcaraz has thus far avoided negative media headlines, and still resides at home with his family in Murcia.

In April last year, the avid Real Madrid fan also launched the Carlos Alcaraz Garcia Foundation, which aims to improve the lives of disadvantaged children. After flash floods devastated the city of Valencia in November, Alcaraz also helped run a charity auction to raise funds for those affected.

But while he remains single, Alcaraz has now been accused of having another hobby. And it’s Nick Kyrgios who has thrown his fellow star under a bus when put on the spot during an appearance on the Get Set Tennis podcast.

The exuberant Aussie was asked to sum up a number of his rivals in just one word. When quizzed on Alcaraz, he replied: “He loves females, so females.”

It follows the star revealing the ideal name for his future wife last summer. In an interview with internet celebrity Daniel Fernandez, the player was put in an awkward position, albeit hypothetically.

“I want to imagine that you’re married in 2037 at Wimbledon, about to become the greatest tennis player in history,” said Fernandez. “You look to the stands, you see a woman, do you have kids? How many do you have.”

As his client paused, Fernandez added: “But more importantly, what’s your wife’s name?” After appearing flummoxed, Alcaraz eventually answered with: “What’s my wife’s name? I’m not sure? I will say Maria.”

Ironically, just weeks later the tennis prodigy was linked to María Gonzalez Gimenez. But despite admitting he was friends with the law graduate, the pair never confirmed any kind of relationship.

And during the US Open in August, Alcaraz was asked point blank whether or not he was still single. He insisted he was, but did admit: “I am looking for someone.”
