Carlos Alcaraz boosts already colossal net worth thanks to big Wimbledon payday

Carlos Alcaraz is fast becoming one of tennis’ richest stars, despite the fact he’s still only 21. The Spaniard clinched his second successive Wimbledon title on Sunday by romping to a three sets victory over Novak Djokovic on Centre Court.

The victory, which was far more decisive than the five-set nail-baiter he pipped Djokovic in during last year’s Wimbledon final, felt like a changing of the guard moment. Alcaraz is the poster boy of the post-‘Big Three’ [Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal] era, and with four Grand Slams under his belt, he’s already a sixth of the way to tying Djokovic’s record of 24.

But it isn’t just his trophy cabinet that’s bulging – his bank balance is too. Before the tournament, Alcaraz had a reported net worth of £15million, and victory at SW19 added a further £2.7m to his kitty.

Alcaraz won the French Open for the first time back in June, beating Alexander Zverev in five sets in the final. This means he’s pocketed £4.7m in prize money in the past month alone.

He also has lucrative sponsorship deals with the likes of Nike, Rolex and BMW, further padding his earnings. His contract with Nike, which includes plans for a personalised logo, is particularly fruitful, reportedly worth around £13m annually over the next decade.

Elsewhere, he has endorsements from other prominent companies like Calvin Klein, Babolat, ElPozo, and ISDIN. These deals, together with the prize money he’s collected from tournament wins over the past few years, have made him one of the highest-paid young athletes in the world.

For contrast, his net worth has already surpassed that of Stanislas Wawrinka (£14m), who has three Grand Slams to his name. Saying that, he still has a fair way to go to catch the likes of Djokovic (£189m), Nadal (£170m) and Federer (£424m).

But given his incredible form over the past two years, as well as his skyrocketing star power, it probably won’t take him too long to get into the same sort of ballpark.
