World No. 7 Daniil Medvedev has parted ways with his coach, Gilles Simon, after a year-long partnership. The decision, described as mutual, was announced by Medvedev on his X account on Tuesday.
“Hey guys, Gilles Simon and I mutually decided to stop working together. I am really thankful for everything that he brought to the team. We will absolutely stay friends and wish him nothing but the best,” the Russian said.
Medvedev’s troubles began at the Australian Open last month, where he suffered a surprise second-round defeat to 19-year-old American Learner Tien. The setback was compounded by his slip to seventh in the latest ATP rankings.
Simon had officially joined Medvedev’s team in February 2024, although they began working together at the Australian Open last season, where Medvedev reached the final.
