Davis Cup 2025: Jerome Kyn, Sumit Nagal to spearhead Switzerland and India in World Group-1 tie

Jerome Kym, who qualified and reached the third round of the US Open, will spearhead the Swiss team against India in the Davis Cup World Group-1 tie to be played on an indoor hard court in Biel on September 12 and 13.

The 22-year-old Jerome was ranked a career-best 123 in May this year, but has slipped to 155. He had won two Challenger titles last year.

The second-best player will be the 29-year-old Marc-Andrea Huesler, who was ranked a career-best 47 in 2023 when he played all four Grand Slams.

Dominic Stricker may be ranked a modest 244 at the moment, but the 23-year-old had qualified and reached the fourth round of the US Open in 2023, beating Stefanos Tsitsipas and Benjamin Bonzi in five sets each, before falling to Taylor Fritz.

Jakub Paul is the fourth player in the Swiss team, and a doubles specialist with 35 titles in the professional circuit. He played doubles with Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan last week in France and reached the semifinals of the Cassis Challenger. He is also ranked a career best 292 in singles at the moment.

Sumit Nagal, ranked 290 at the moment, but had reached a career-best 68 last year, will be the spearhead for India. He will be backed by 19-year-old Aryan Shah and 22-year-old Karan Singh, ranked 401 and 408, respectively.

The doubles department for India will have Yuki Bhambri, who has jumped to a career-best rank of 22 by reaching the semifinals of the US Open. He is scheduled to partner with the 75th-ranked Sriram Balaji.

The tie will feature four singles and a doubles, in the best-of-three sets format. The second day will have the doubles and the reverse singles.
