Emma Raducanu dropped a major hint that she will again team with Katie Boulter after her latest win at Queen’s. The 22-year-old breezed into the quarter-final stage with a 6-4 6-1 win over Rebecca Sramkova, having earlier in the day become the new British No.1
Raducanu appeared in cruise control against the Slovakian in the first set, racing into a 5-0 lead. However, she then wobbled as she looked to serve it out, twice broken before regaining her nerve on serve at the third time of asking. There were no dramas thereafter though, and broke three times in the second set to seal the win.
It came just a day after Raducanu and Boulter went out of the doubles at the quarter-final stage. However, the 2021 US Open champion appeared to make it clear afterwards that fans had not seen the last of the pair working together, writing “Long with BoulterCanu” on a camera in marker pen.
Afterwards, she admitted she found it difficult to get over her disappointment on Wednesday, admitting: “Honestly it was a real challenge for me today.
I am not used to playing doubles and I was really upset and really felt I was out of the tournament so it was difficult to fire myself up for this. I’d really like to play with Katie again in the future.”
