Coco Gauff and Serena Williams are both in agreement about the latest sports star to achieve ‘GOAT’ status.
Williams is widely considered as one of the greatest sportswomen of all time, having enjoyed a stellar career that returned a staggering 23 Grand Slam titles.
She’s also a well-known lover of different sports, having previously named Lewis Hamilton, LeBron James, Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan in a list of her four greatest athletes of all time.
But now Williams has added Olympic gymnast Simone Biles to that list as well.
Williams recently shared a series of photos on social media with Biles and served up her judgement in the post’s caption.
Writing on Instagram, the tennis icon said: “Yesterday, I sat with the GOAT Simone Biles at an evening of impactful conversation with Audemars Piguet, Vanity Fair and The Female Quotient. A house full of women. I love to see it.”
It’s by no means a controversial pick, given Biles boasts 11 Olympic medals, as well as a whole host of World Championship titles too.
However, current world No.3 Gauff was quick to back the claim up, responding with two goat and a love-heart eyes emoji in the comment section, implying she agrees with Williams that Biles has reached GOAT status.
But the double goat emoji also suggested Gauff is including Williams in that category too – something she’s admitted in the past.
Commenting on the tennis icon in 2022, Gauff stated: “What makes her the GOAT is her personality and all that she’s done off the court to fight for equality, to fight for young players like me and continue to lead in the way that she does and I think that’s what we really should be focused on.
“That’s just Serena. I don’t think there will be anyone who can do what she did, with all the adversity that she had to face, I don’t think there will be another player that will do that.”
The American continued: “She’s the GOAT. And undisputed too. In my opinion. But I don’t think that’s an opinion, it’s a fact. Serena for me is the GOAT. The GOAT of all GOATs.”
After winning the season-ending WTA Finals last month, Gauff will enjoy some time off over the holiday period prior to the 2025 season getting underway in the new year.
