Iga Swiatek moved to tears after touching gesture from Taylor Swift

World No. 1 tennis player Iga Swiatek was moved to tears by a handwritten note from pop superstar Taylor Swift. She received the letter in a heartwarming gesture after travelling to England to watch the singer perform, just days after winning the French Open.

Swiatek, who is currently the top-ranked female tennis player globally, had an unforgettable week. She defeated Jasmine Paolini in straight sets at the French Open before jetting off to Liverpool to see her favorite artist on her Eras Tour.

The 23-year-old arrived at Roland Garros fresh from victories at the Madrid Open and Italian Open, and lived up to her billing as tournament favourite in Paris. However, even she was left awestruck when she attended Swift’s concert and later posted an emotional thank you to the singer.

Swiatek shared a photo on social media showing her tear-streaked face as she held an open letter from Swift, congratulating her on her French Open win.

She chose not to disclose the full contents of the heartfelt letter to her fans, instead captioning the post: “I’m dead. Yes, I cried many times during the show. Yes, it was incredible. You are amazing @taylorswift13”.

Earlier this year, during the Madrid Open, Swiatek hinted that she hoped to see Swift perform live, stating there was one particular show she had her eye on. Discussing her plans to see Swift, she said: “Ask Jules, he’s IMG agent, so he should get it. No, but it’s hard with the schedule.”

“I think there’s one show that is going to be perfect but I think the tickets are already sold out. Not yet? So I can just buy them? Well, then what’s the problem? Okay, I’ll get to it. Honestly, I didn’t check before, so thanks for the reminder.”

Following this beneficial tip-off, the Polish tennis star secured her ideal show and was even surprised with a heartfelt gift from Swift. Continuing her formidable streak, she clinched her fourth French Open in five years, displaying her supremacy on clay by surrendering only one set in the whole tournament a battle against four-time Grand Slam victor Naomi Osaka.

Swift, currently in a relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, pulled an all-nighter after a gig in Liverpool to join Kelce and pals in celebrating the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory and their prestigious ring ceremony, marking their win over the San Francisco 49ers in February.
