Bhullar, Chawrasia, Sandhu tied at 56th in Japan
Indian golfers competing in the USD 2 million International Series Japan made a disappointing start as three of the seven players in the field shot an even par 71 and were tied 56th here.
The trio who faltered at the par-71 Caledonian Golf Club was Gaganjeet Bhullar, SSP Chawrasia and Yuvraj Sandhu.
Of the rest, Ajeetesh Sandhu, Shiv Kapur and Jeev Milkha Singh, a four-time winner in Japan, carded 2-over 73 each and were Tied-105th.
Rahil Gangjee, who also has a win in Japan, shot 4-over 75 and was Tied-141st.
With the cut looking to fall at even par, the Indians will need solid rounds to ensure play over the weekend.

Diksha looks to maintain momentum on LET; Pranavi, Avani and Tvesa join Korean challenge
The Indian quartet, led by Diksha Dagar and Pranavi Urs, will look to produce a strong performance when it returns to action on the Ladies European Tour (LET) after a three-week break at the Aramco Korea Championship, beginning on Friday.
Diksha and Pranavi will be joined by Tvesa Malik and rookie Avani Prashanth in the USD 2 million event at the New Korea Country Club, which is hosting the tournament for the second consecutive year.
All four want to get into a strong position to challenge for their home event, the Hero Women’s Indian Open, later in the year.

Kadian beats Shrikrishna 6-3 in NSCI Baulkline Snooker round of 16 contest, Ishpreet records maximum 147 break
Ishpreet Singh Chadha recorded the maximum break of 147 in the fifth frame to beat Pushpender Singh 6-1 in their round of 16 match of the NSCI Baulkline Snooker tournament here on Thursday.
Chadha won the contest in the seventh frame with the scoreline reading 118 (105)-1, 74-25, 88(65)-9, 82(82)-20, 147(147)-4, 44-78, 91-27.
Digvijay Kadian recorded a 6-3 victory over Shrikrishna Suryanarayanan in the round of 16 match, while Pankaj Advani recorded a 5-1 win over Sparsh Pherwani in their round of 32 tie.
The 22-year-old Kadian had previously defeated Kreishh Gurbaxani in the round of 32 contest and on Thursday managed to carry on his good form.
In another pre-quarterfinal contest, Sourav Kothari defeated Dhwaj Haria 6-1, while Himanshu Jain blanked Shoaib Khan 6-0.

All India Chess Masters FIDE Classical tournament in Mumbai from May 10-15
The All India Chess Masters Mumbai FIDE Classical tournament will be organised here from May 10-15 with a maximum entries of 240 players.
The total prize money of the six-day competition will be Rs 3 lakh.
Four-year-old Hridaan Chhajer will be the youngest participant in the competition, a release said.
International Arbiter (IA) Ajinkya Pingale will oversee the event as chief arbiter.

Shrivalli enters quarterfinals
Shrivalli Bhamidipaty beat Daria Zelinskaya 6-4, 6-2 in the pre-quarterfinals of the $40,000 ITF women’s tennis tournament in Lopota, Georgia, on Thursday.
The eighth seeded Shrivalli will play Sofia Shapatava of Georgia in the quarterfinals.
Fifth seed Ankita Raina fell to qualifier Rada Zolotareva in three sets in the second round, while Rutuja Bhosale’s fine run in doubles in partnership with Paige Hourigan of New Zealand was stopped in the semifinals.
