Kyrgios battles Cornes as off-court spats mount

There are plenty of opinions between them but Nick Kyrgios will not back down off the court taking aim at Channel Seven analyst Kane Cornes in his latest war of words.

Following his first-round loss, Cornes called Kyrgios a “child” labelling him as one of Australia’s most disappointing athletes for failing to deliver despite immense talent.

“I just feel we talk about this guy too much,” Cornes said on SEN.

“He sits on his high horse and criticises everyone, be that ball kids, line judges, other opponents.

“He’s a child. He’s a 29-year-old child. The way that he carries himself, the ambassador that he’s been, put all that in the mix, I think no one has disappointed more.

“No one has been spoken about more with less results than this guy over a long period of time.”

Kyrgios, who has never let a bad word against him slide before, fired back at the outspoken AFL expert.

“Gotta love comments from a athlete who didn’t play a global sport appreciate the kind works brother x,” he posted on X formerly Twitter.

It comes less than 24 hours after Kyrgios launched a tirade against Australian great Todd Woodbridge after questioning good friend Thanasi Kokkinakis’ preparation for the Australian Open.

Kyrgios labelled the doubles champion as ‘jealous’ after Woodbridge said Kokkinakis was more interested in money than getting the most out of his tennis.
