Kyrgios, Wawrinka and others react to Sinner’s three-month doping ban

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner on Saturday accepted a three-month doping ban after a settlement with the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA).

The 23-year-old Italian, who won his second Australian Open and third career Major a few weeks ago, had twice tested positive for clostebol, a banned anabolic steroid, but an independent tribunal found no fault or negligence on Sinner’s part.

Sinner has said clostebol had entered his system from a member of his support team through massages and sports therapy. However, WADA had appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the tribunal’s decision and the case was set to be heard in April but now, WADA has withdrawn its appeal.

Nick Kyrgios, Stan Wawrinka and other tennis players reacted to WADA’s statement according to which Sinner will serve his period of ineligibility from February 9 to May 4, allowing him to play at the French Open, the second Slam of the season.
