Raducanu and Alcaraz can be the new Posh and Becks as Wimbledon talk grows

The only way Carlos Alcaraz could be more adorned by Wimbledon fans was if he became an honorary Brit. SW19’s strawberry brigade have made it clear that the Spaniard is their new sweetheart in the post-Roger Federer era.

The charming two-time champion has etched his name into all supporters’ hearts. But if there is any truth to the flames being fanned, he is set for a whole new level of love.

Romance rumours are doing the rounds linking Alcaraz with Emma Raducanu. And what a boost it would be for British tennis if sparks begin to fly.

Aussie Alex De Minaur has become an honorary Brit due to his long-term relationship with British No. 2 Katie Boulter – and it massively helped the Leicestershire star’s form.

Alcaraz’s stock would be taken to even greater heights on these shores. They would become the new Posh and Becks.

Raducanu got giddy when asked if she was “destined” to be in a relationship with Alcaraz this week, before politely saying: “No, not quite to that extent, but I’m glad the internet is having fun.”

Expect all eyes to be on any interaction between the pair at the All England Club over the next fortnight.

New Lions captain

Dan Sheehan hasn’t just been chucked into the deep end, he’s had his legs bound, blindfolded and attached to a block of concrete.

Lions debuts are hard enough, but the Irishman has got to do it with the pressure of the captaincy, all while sharing the pitch with Scotland skipper Finn Russell, who was bizarrely overlooked.
