However, in attendance for the match on the Balearic island was tennis legend Nadal, who managed to catch up with Mbappe after the stalemate.
As seen in a video shared on social media, Mbappe and Nadal share a warm embrace post-match, before the 2018 World Cup winner reaches into his bag to fetch a gift.
Much to the amazement of the 22-time Grand Slam winner, Mbappe pulled out his Real Madrid match-worn shirt from the 1-1 draw.
The exchange was brief, with Mbappe ushered away by a security guard moments later, but Nadal was visibly excited to have got his hands on the coveted jersey.
Understandably, social media was sent into somewhat of a frenzy, with tennis and football lovers alike pleased to see two sporting greats come face-to-face.
Posting on X, @MohammedUzairqa said: “Both are among the greatest of the game.”
@TennisDegardin added: “Magical!”
While @semakismymoralc commented: “I need the audio for this because did Rafa randomly say – hey man can I have your jersey?”
And @iconis claimed: “Rafael sneaking around getting hugs and jerseys, I love it so much.”
It would’ve no doubt cheered Nadal up following the disappointing result, given the Spaniard is a devoted Real Madrid fan.
But, even Nadal will be hoping for more from Real Madrid’s latest Galatico, as they target back-to-back La Liga titles this season.
It’s something manager Carlo Ancelotti referenced post-match, with the Italian saying: “Sometimes Mbappé plays more centrally and sometimes one of the two [him and Vinicius Junior] has to occupy this flank, without a particular plan. It depends on how they feel about it.
“I don’t want to make excuses for anything, but we just need to do better and with a better attitude. We can learn a lot from this match. It’s quite clear where our problems could come from.”
