Wimbledon final prize money – What Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic will earn

Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic will battle for the Wimbledon men’s singles title and a hefty sum of money on Sunday afternoon. In a repeat of last year’s final, the Spaniard is seeking to retain his crown while the Serb wants revenge.

This year’s Wimbledon saw a huge increase in prize money. A near-15 per cent rise from 2023 will see Alcaraz or Djokovic earn a huge fee for their efforts.

What is the Wimbledon final prize money?

The Wimbledon men’s champion will earn an eye-watering £2.7m fee after lifting the trophy. Alcaraz took home £2.35m after beating Djokovic last year in his maiden Wimbledon triumph.

Women have earned the same prize money at Wimbledon as their male counterparts since 2007. It means that the ladies’ singles champion Barbora Krejcikova landed a £2.7m prize after beating Jasmine Paolini on Saturday.

The total prize pot for the Championships this year was £50m. It is a 100 per cent increase on the fund for the 2014 edition of the tournament.

“With this year’s Championships only days away, I am delighted to announce a record prize money fund of £50m, with increases for players in every round and across every event,” Debbie Jevans, chair of the All England Club, said ahead of Wimbledon.

“I am particularly pleased that we have been able to increase prize money for the wheelchair and quad wheelchair competitions to £1m for the first time.

“Interest in attending Wimbledon has never been greater, with unprecedented demand for tickets through our public ballot and corporate hospitality. A thriving, successful Championships gives us the opportunity to give back: to the sport, to our local community, and to strategically invest for the future.”

Alcaraz and Djokovic meet again for the right to be crowned this year’s Wimbledon champion. The Spaniard won their epic battle last year in a thrilling five-setter on Centre Court.

The duo have endured contrasting runs to the final. Alcaraz has had to win his matches in more than three sets during every match since the second round, while Djokovic won his fourth round tie and semi-final in three.

Djokovic also received a walkover in the quarter-final after Alex de Minaur’s retirement from the tournament with a hip injury. The 37-year-old has not won a Grand Slam since last year’s US Open, in which he beat Alcaraz in the final.
