Coco Gauff moved up to third spot while Aryna Sabalenka tightened her grip at the top of the WTA Rankings released on Monday.
Gauff lost to Sabalenka in the Madrid Open final on Saturday. The run in the Spanish capital helped Gauff become the top-ranked American again as she went past compatriot Jessica Pegula who slipped to fourth spot.
The 21-year-old Gauff defeated defending champion Iga Swiatek in the semifinals. Swiatek, the 23-year-old Pole, is now just 170 points ahead of Gauff.

Sabalenka, who won her third Madrid Open title, increased the gap between her and Swiatek to 4,345 points.
Italy’s Jasmine Paolini and USA’s Madison Keys, the current Australian Open champion, swapped the fifth and sixth spots.

Emma Navarro is the fourth American in the Top 10.
Spain’s Paula Badosa, who pulled out of Madrid Open due to a back injury, fell from ninth to 10th spot.
Former World No. 1 and four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka, who won the WTA 125 L’Open 35 de Saint-Malo, her first title since maternity leave, returned to Top 50 as she jumped from 55th to 48th.
Elsewhere in the Top 100, Diana Shnaider (11th), Serbia’s Olga Danilovic (33rd), USA Peyton Stearns (42nd), Japan’s Moyuka Uchijima (47th) and Aoi Ito (100th), Great Britain’s Sonay Kartal (56th), Australia’s Kimberly Birrell (60th), Germany’s Eva Lys (63rd), The Philippines’ Alexandra Eala (70th) and Turkiye’s Zeynep Sonmez (76th) reached new career high rankings.
