Teenager Victoria Mboko made her Top 25 debut in the latest WTA Rankings on Friday after her sensational title-winning run as a local wild card at the Canadian Open.
The 18-year-old Mboko defeated four Grand Slam champions – Sofia Kenin (second round), Coco Gauff (round of 16), Elena Rybakina (semifinal) and Naomi Osaka (final) – to clinch her maiden title on the WTA Tour in Montreal on Thursday. As a result, she moved up from 85th to 24th. It is a remarkable achievement since the Canadian was ranked outside the Top 300 at the start of the season.
Former World No. 1 Osaka, who replaced Patrick Mouratoglou with Tomasz Wiktorowski as her coach, also made a significant jump from 49th to 25th.
