Two women have been shot during victory celebrations in Philadelphia for the city’s Super Bowl champions.
The incident happened just after 2.30pm on Friday as thousands of Philadelphia Eagles fans gathered to watch official speeches.
It happened near the parade route for the Super Bowl winners, who captured their second NFL title in eight seasons last Sunday, dominating the two-time-defending champions Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 at the Superdome in New Orleans.
Police said a 27-year-old woman was shot in her left leg and a 20-year-old woman was shot in her upper left thigh along Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
Both were taken to a nearby hospital where their conditions were described as stable.
Fans had gathered hours before the parade to grab the best vantage point in freezing conditions.
Police deputy commissioner Frank Vanore said the two women were shot by a suspect wearing an Eagles shirt after an argument, according to local media.
The shooting occurred as team officials were carrying out speeches on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
The location was along the parade route, although the buses had passed by about an hour before the shooting.
Police described the scene as “outside the parade footprint”.

Along the parade route, supporters could be seen hanging out of windows, on top of light poles and trees and standing on top of vehicles to see the players travelling on open-top buses.
The win on Sunday avenged a title game loss to Kansas City two years ago.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing as officials reported that no crime scene was found and no weapon was recovered.
